About The Artwork

I specialize in figures and portraiture and enjoy the process of life drawing. This is inspired by a particular model that I like working with. The pose is relaxed and felt as if she was in repose after meditation. The silver leaf feels like she’s in a very peaceful, grounded, enlightened place. It have been a very joyful, piece to create. The acrylic paint is new to me as a figurative artist. I usually paint in oils. So the abrupt drying time forces me to be “in the moment” which is very meditative. The silver leafing is one of my favorite techniques to create interest and feels fresh. I use red quite a lot as my base in pastels so felt using it as my base in this calm piece would add a dynamic energy to this piece. I hope you enjoy it

Being an artist has been a true blessing in my life. My journey as an artist is not just about creating beautiful pieces of art, but it’s about making complicated subject matter simple, not only in art but in life. As an artist, I live in divine dissatisfaction in the pursuit of perfection. I strive to achieve the perfect brush stroke, the perfect color, the perfect line, the perfect jump (in riding), and even the perfect pasta sauce. This pursuit of perfection is something I find enjoyable and helps me grow as an artist. Art has been my constant companion through both good and bad times. It has helped me through the loss of my parents and the challenges of raising three children. The process of pursuing different art disciplines serves as therapy and helps me through life’s difficulties. Even when designing a logo or branding concept, I redirect myself to understand the client's mindset and fulfill their needs. Working with clients to design artwork for various projects has been a complicated but enjoyable experience. Whether it's a watercolor for an art competition, a pet portrait, a child's portrait as a gift, or a massive trompe l'oeil mural for a catering facility, every project requires complete concentration and focus to complete. My greatest strength is my ability to communicate with my clients. I strive to make the client comfortable throughout the process and work with them to develop a confident path. I'm skilled in selecting the right color combinations and layouts to create the best composition for the project. For over 30 years, I have worked with professional designers and architects to bring their visions to life. As a portrait artist, I love to get to know my client's personality. It helps me to create the best expression of who they are and ensures that they will always look at the work with joy and satisfaction. Art is not just a job, but it's a passion that drives me to create beautiful and meaningful pieces that bring joy to my clients. “Art is not what you see, it’s what you make others see.”      E. Degas
