FAUSTO AND CANTO SHIPIBO The audio of the readings of Faust recorded by German residents in Colombia and Germany gives origin to this work that encompasses different passages of the work of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. These files that comprise more than eight hours in length are compressed, to such an extent that what is understandable is annulled and becomes energy and musical sound. The voices that have been converted into sound graphics are used to create a sgraffito filled with color and resin. A specific green color reminiscent of certain Colombian institutions fills these areas amidst black stripes hat simulate the shadows of the passage of human life. Above these (100 x 110) cm works entitled Faust in honor of Goethe, rests another piece (30x110 cm) using the same technique, but instead of German speaking voices, one encounters a Shipibo song - a feminine voice from the healing regions of the Peruvian Amazon. The color is alchemically transformed into earth tones, black and purple that for the artist Juan Carlos are symbolic of the interior worlds of the human condition, where in the middle of darkness there is always dazzling light. For Delgado, Fausto and Canto Shipibo, these 100 horizontal diptychs are also representative of the cultural contrasts of Latin America.
