About The Artwork

F E A R B L O O M is an art exhibition that delves into the seldom-discussed fears haunting modern men, utilising the poignant symbolism of flowers to reveal and explore these vulnerabilities. This exhibit challenges the traditional silence around male fears, offering a visual narrative through the combination of long exposure photography and advanced AI techniques to merge images of men and flowers. Each piece articulates a specific fear, from the dread of emotional openness to the anxiety of failing societal masculinity standards. By highlighting these fears, F E A R B L O O M aims to dismantle the myths surrounding masculinity, showcasing the strength found in vulnerability. The exhibition invites viewers to rethink masculinity, promoting a dialogue that embraces fear as an intrinsic part of the male experience. Through striking imagery and thoughtful pairings of flora with human subjects, F E A R B L O O M advocates for a broader, more compassionate understanding of manhood, urging a societal shift towards recognising the beauty in masculine sensitivity.

My name is Ana Butrym, and I am based in Sydney, working as a Brand Psychologist and Partner at Shuka Design. My career uniquely bridges creativity with analytical skills, focusing on behavioural economics, AI art, photography, and design, all reinforced by a background in mathematics and coding. My role as Director at the British Higher School of Art and Design was a pivotal moment, sparking my journey into my own artistic endeavours. This experience inspired me to explore the intersections between art, design, science, and technology more deeply. I hold a Master's degree in Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics and a Certificate in Graphic Design, which have allowed me to merge the technical with the creative aspects of my work seamlessly. My passion for photography, especially floral photography, has been significantly enriched through the use of AI-powered editing software, enabling me to produce visuals that are both innovative and evocative. My artworks are a reflection of my exploration into how technology can creatively augment the realms of art and design.
