ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A whimsical, dreamy image of a pagoda in a flower garden, that looks antique and contemporary at the same time. This work began with a cyanotype, one of the earliest forms of Photography. I painted a thick, textured piece of watercolor paper with a combination of chemicals, then exposed it to the sun. After it was developed, I enhanced it with ink, dried preserved flowers, and acrylic paint. It has a dark blue border around a 26x19 inch image. It can be framed with, or without the border, (see additional images). With the border the image is 22x29 inches, without is it 19x26. This work can be commissioned in larger sizes, please contact a free Saatchi art advisor.

Karen Clark is a contemporary artist based in Los Angeles. She uses oil, acrylic and collage in her quest to find magic in the ordinary. Her art has been commissioned by Louis Vuitton, the Bellagio Hotel, the Mandarin Oriental, the Virgin Hotel, Los Vegas, and an HBO series. She has sold to private collections in Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Israel, the Netherlands, Japan, Singapore, the US and more. Her art has been featured on on Artsy, the Huffington Post, CNN, and CBS. From Art Critic Shana Nys Dambrot, "Karen Clark avails herself of an eclectic set of mediums and materials, including but not limited to painting, drawing, digital collage, and printmaking. These she deploys in all possible combinations in the service of pictorially hybrid compositions in which she freely samples stylistic languages from gestural abstraction to the surreal, naturalistic, ultra-modern, and romantic -- inventively choreographing this gamut of choices into layered juxtapositions that are at once eerie and poetic, strange and familiar.
