Los Angeles based visual artist Kader Amkpa specializes in painting and object making with historical and socio economic context behind them. As a first generation immigrant, Kader has lived in various parts of the world including England, Niamey, West Africa, and New York City. Each of those life experiences play a major role in the type of subject matter and direction he chooses to embark upon artistically. Capitalism, colonialism, followed by the need for expansion and how it has shaped various parts of the world are major themes throughout his work. As of 2025, Kader will be graduating with a MFA in Fine Art, from Otis College of Art and Design.
