About The Artwork

Art. Fylfot And Buddhism. I created an art piece which combines the idea of multi faiths into one coherent symbol, reflecting the similar or identical nature of the core of those faiths, including science, both known and theoretical, keeping Buddhism at the centre, yet remaining future looking, and which can not be mistaken or misconstrued, effectively resetting the idea of a Buddhist fylfot as a genuine and viable symbol of faith. Although future looking, referencing other known symbols of faith and combining into one, it could be the symbol of the Jedi. Indeed, it could be the symbol of any faith, where the core of it directly relates to the ethos of Buddhism, which almost all do. It is professionally printed with the highest quality fade resistant inks on heavy matte paper, glazed, backed and framed in wood. It has a professionally wrapped chord on discreet D rings on the back of the frame, and comes with a single screw, washer and plug for your wall as a hanging option. You may wish to fit mirror plates, or choose an option of your own. I hope that viewers will initially see a nice well balanced design, an aesthetically pleasing image which stands up on its own. Spending longer with the image may reveal symbols within the overall design, symbols of their own faith, and even references to historical art. Spending longer still with the image may take you on a journey, and produce a realisation that all faiths correlate around central themes, and that all things are one. Initially laid out on the floor using coins as modular elements to build the piece from a central point outwards, it directly reflects the making of a Buddhist Mandala, coins being transient in nature, but going further, photographing the completed design, and using digital manipulation to fix it, and give it a permanent form. Metaphorically scooping it off the floor, and printing the piece, which can be hung up on walls, goes further still, full circle, artistically speaking.
