ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Paul Dirkse is a self-taught Dutch artist who has traveled all over the globe, he works mainly with acrylics and is constantly experimenting with new styles and methods. He tries to approach his creations with an uninhibited and open mind. Working on instinct in an expressive and dynamic way, often on several paintings at the same time. Using many layers of paint and all types of other materials like sand, cloth, nails, bark, working tools, whatever catches his eyes and can be of any use. He let colours blend adding and adding to build up one’s work. Playing with light and structure in many ways hoping for fulfillment. Focusing on the magic of the moment, trying to be in the flow, hoping for majesticity to reveal. Trying to reach for that moment of enchantment when things work out, always with emotion and passion. In his own words. “True beauty cannot happen without a touch of magic and perhaps a little help from the heavens.”

Paul Dirkse Contemporary artist, Netherlands My mixed-media work blends chaos and harmony. Extensive world travels and my curiosity for exploring new adventures inspire my focus. Painting is my way of communication. I use it to share my impressions of what I experience. It is hard for me to define what exactly influences me - it is a sum of many separate elements that are around me and that I come into contact with. I'm trying to convey the potency of the forces of nature. I strive to depict the beauty and colour of our natural world infused with the vibration of light, translated individually. I’m captivated by the power of nature and by the serenity in diffuse twilight. To me it’s especially important that my work continues to evolve and that its strength and significance increase. That’s why I’m constantly experimenting subjects and techniques. With respect to significance, my paintings must all express sensitivity, spontaneity and vitality. I have garnered a world-wide following of private collectors and my work currently resides in over 25 countries.
