About The Artwork

No.3 Giclee Print on acid-free textured fine art paper, 41 x 44,5 cm Signed, titled and numbered. Limited edition of 50. Originally Exhibited at The Colette Gallery ( Colette Store) Paris 2013 (WORN LEATHERETTE). TITLE: Hi-Heel Sneakers How do we relate to the shoe? They say so much about us. Revealing our age, sex and personality, Every texture, stitch, shape, style, material represent the very person that stands inside them. They seem to have a power of their own. Shoes, Sneakers, High Heels appear as a vehicle for us to establish our identity, individualism, gender, lifestyle, sexuality, personality and culture.  Like "Cinderellas" glass slipper and the' Wizard of Oz 'red shoes, 'The Old Woman Lived in a Shoe', Our desire for them as objects of art is fascinating. This artwork is a Giclee print on paper from the original Sold montage 'High Heel Sneaker' shown at the Colette Gallery in Paris in 2013.  Celebrating my passion for the iconic shoe. I depict the fractured sneaker and high heel shoe montaged together to represent its many paradoxes.

Frances has a spontaneous approach to her collage work where the images are drawn from her own photographs of varied objects, fabrics and all kinds of materials collected from the history of the world of fashion and art. She finds inspiration in vintage fashion and the imperfections and signs of wear and tear embedded in the history of the garment. Frances has a sensitivity to the materials she uses and creates the image through a series of painterly gestures made from her photographs.
