Mixed media Artist living in Kansas City, MO. I work from my basement studio where I have unlimited access to my work. I also teach Retreats and Workshops, take commissions and share my work on Instagram. My painting has been an awakening so to speak as I explore and continue to discover who I am through my work. Spending time in my studio laying paint, oil pastel onto canvas has given me insight about my life and how I have arrived at where I currently am in my journey. My paintings are intuitive, random, and intentional at the same time. As I paint I am reminded of the journey I am taking as an artist. I think about how my work has evolved and the stories my paintings tell, little glimpses of my emerging self. I find myself emerging with each brushstroke; the most important thing I have to remember is to trust in the work I present and that painting makes my sole happy. My process is a combination of a bold color palette it consists of layers of paint on a white neutral background. Oil pastel ads texture to the canvas ground as paint is thickly applied with brushes, small rollers and tools. Graphite mark making completes my designs and oil pastels peek in and out of the paint layers, creating a dynamic play of textures, shapes color and pattern. I also work in collage made with hand painted papers, mono printed paper and recycled pieces of older work.
