I discovered the original image on Wikimedia by accident. I was, of course, looking for something entirely different. The Port of Audierne was taken by Gustave Gain around 1900. It’s in the Brittany area being on the Goyen river, a tributary leading to the Atlantic Ocean. I tinkered with the autochrome by using a variety of Photoshop and Topaz tools in order to brighten the image and digitally re-work it as a painting. Gustave Gain was born in 1876 in Cherbourg . He was a French chemist and photographer who used to repeatedly exposed his autochromes. He died in 1945 in Paris.

I am a freelance actress, artist and writer who has always loved creating art of one form or another. My art on other sites is under the name of First Night Design. Self-taught, I have a disabling condition (Limited Cutaneous Systemic Sclerosis) that means I concentrate on digital art. I have surprised myself with the work I have created thus far. The more I learn about art and design software, the more I am inspired to try unusual effects. One piece of art often comes out of the "˜out-takes' of another; possibilities seem endless and enticing. For me, the most important things in life are love and laughter. I hope that you will find something in my gallery to love or amuse. Thank you for your visit.
