Showed at the The Other Art Fair
A portrait inspired by the psychopharmacologically-fueled zeitgeist of the mid-twentieth century. The pharmaceutical revolution of the 1950's and 60's changed the lives of average citizens and sparked a mass fascination with mind-altering drugs in their young adult children. This series dramatizes the effects of altered brain chemistry and the cultural sea change that ensued.

Jon Pannier is a New York-based artist whose work examines societal transformations following the mid-century cultural revolution. Nostalgic archetypes, unabashed hedonism, and ubiquitous psychopharmacology are key themes that surface in his work. A former creative director in advertising, Pannier employs an executional approach that incorporates commercial art techniques like fashion illustration, textile repeats, and graphic design. Pannier works primarily with archival pigments on canvas, fine art papers, and metals, producing works in both unique and limited editions.
