About The Artwork

'Johnny and his cat' is an illustration I originally did for my portfolio as part of a portrait series. It turned out to be a real portrait from memory, the older version of a London band singer, Johnny, I had the opportunity to meet (and seeing performing) while living there. He made a real impression on me for his charisma and his incredible talent. Years later, I subconsciously juxtaposed him to this eccentric older man, whose penetrating eyes are the same color as his Sphynx cat. This illustration was selected for the online version of Creative Quarterly 69 to be published in winter next year. It began as a drawing (pen on paper), was scanned and manipulated in Photoshop using a variety of digital brushes. Being it a mixed-media digital work, it will be available as giclée on Hahnemühle William Turner paper.
