A self-taught, full-time visual artist whose practice is highly inspired by his lived experiences. Starting in the early 2000's he developed a technique of layering photographs that became his highly recognisable signature style. More recently he has moved into sculptural 3D mixed media works that are initially quite minimal and then reveal themselves to be complex and highly colourful. The two latest series of works are based on personal experiences. He has a love for Kyujutsu, the art of Japanese battlefield archery (holding a 4th Dan blackbelt), and this is reflected in the subtle yet vivid Kyujutsu series of artworks that are based upon the patterns found in paper targets at the end of training sessions. Likewise his Places of Me series are also very understated works that yield more the longer you look at them. Each is a highly abstracted design inspired by a place that is important in his life. His artworks are in many private and corporate collections along with the Irish State permanent collection.
