About The Artwork

Metropolis Machina is a digital portrait of Maria, the Maschinenmensch (machine-human) from the classic 1927 science-fiction film Metropolis directed by Fritz Lang. This is the 4th digital artwork I've created of the Maschinenmensch. Given that the movie was made in 1927, Lang did a fantastic job. NOTE: Original is 1 of 5 Signed and Numbered Limited Edition Original Digital Giclee Prints

Jim Plaxco is a digital artist creating abstracts, algorithmic, astronomical, generative, cityscape, landscape, portrait, and space art. His work has appeared in textbooks, has been used as cover art, and has flown in space. He has judged and organized space art contests for NASA, NSS, and the IAA. "As a digital artist I do not subscribe to the proposition that an artist should confine themselves to one subject and style. The versatility of the digital medium should be explored, not ignored. To further add uniqueness to my digital art, much of the art I create is created using graphic software of my own design." Jim is available for art commissions and as a guest lecturer/instructor.
