About The Artwork

Removed, silenced, bridled. An overwhelming sentiment of powerlessness in a man’s world where keeping one’s thoughts to oneself seems to be a requirement. If not heeded then sometimes imposed. Scary. NB: This piece is framed with an art deco frame (circa 1920) and ArtGlass 99% UV protection. I bought the frame in its damaged state from an antique dealer; its imperfection serving this piece's intent. If the frame is not wanted, I am willing to sell this piece unframed.

FAQ#1 - When did you decide to become an artist? Answer#1 - I didn't. My Dad used to take care of my "art affairs". He was my precious link to the galleries I showed in. When he retired, I simply dropped out of the scene. I'm not good at telling curators that they should be showing my work. I never stopped working though. That is not possible. A few years ago, I gave myself a good kick in the behind and moved into a bigger workshop; big enough to show my work. That solved my problem of talking to curators and gave my audience a decent venue where they could see my latest work and sit down comfortably for a bit of a chat. Today, I have joined Saatchi Art to extend my reach and give more visibility to my work. I owe it to myself and to my buyers, past and future. FAQ#2 - Where do your ideas come from? Answer#2 - My life. Most of my work is a snapshot of personal experience. Something happens, my brain takes a picture, my imagination makes a few adjustments and my hands take over from there. FAQ#3 - Where are you "really" from? Answer#3... Canadian by birth. Hawaiian by looks. Swiss by accident. The "really" part? I suspect I look a bit like the asker's maid.
