About The Artwork

My Space Studies are small works created using found imagery of the cosmos collected over a number of years. I use embroidery thread to put the colour back into the black and white images. Details of the piece Each Space Study is an original piece, embroidered by hand by me in my studio. Every piece is printed on high gloss 325gsm FineArt Baryta paper which gives the image great pictorial depth and contrast. Every piece is printed to an archival standard quality. Each piece measures 12cm square and is framed with a generous border of 4cm (framed size approx 20cm). All Space Studies are framed with art glass and float mounted.

Hannah Pratt is an interdisciplinary artist who examines the relationship between art and science. Pratt's main subjects of focus are astronomy, the future of space travel, data literacy and climate change. She uses these subject matters to tell a story that will raise awareness of global issues affecting our lives today. She works with a number of different mediums including painting, drawing, textiles and printing. Her subject matters and the mediums she uses to make her work create a partnership between analogue and digital art-making techniques which mirror the relationship between art and science. Hannah has exhibited and taken part in residencies extensively and recently her work was launched into space as part of the Art in Space programme run by Planet Labs. She also works with creative practitioners such as musicians and other visual artists to help to create a library of responses to contemporary scientific research.
