This rug is inspired by the concept of énouement—the bittersweet feeling of looking back on a past version of yourself and wishing you could tell them everything will turn out okay. There’s something surreal about knowing how things unfolded, yet being unable to reassure your past self in the momen...

Hi, I’m Charlie and live in NYC. Art has always been a core part of how I see and engage with the world. I work full time in the tech world, but art and creativity has always been my passion. My work explores emotions that we all experience but often don’t fully understand or recognize until we see them reflected back at us. I use texture, color, and pattern to give shape to these internal states—making them feel more tangible and easier to connect with. The goal is to create small moments of recognition, reflection, and connection—where someone feels seen, understood, or just a little less alone I started rug-making in November 2023, and by fall 2024, it became a way to process and express my mental health journey. Each piece is a balance of design and emotion, taking 20-30 hours from start to finish—designing, tufting, gluing, and carving. The process itself is just as important as the final piece, offering a sense of clarity and connection. I work primarily with acrylic yarn, drawn to its texture and versatility. My rugs aren’t just about aesthetics; they’re a way to turn thoughts into something tangible, where material and meaning intersect. Beyond the studio, I work in software development and have a deep interest in science, mental health, sociology, nature, and systems. These influences shape my approach to art—whether through structured patterns or organic forms, I’m always exploring the relationships between process, material, and intention.
