ABOUT THE ARTWORK

“NUée” is a mental landscape, non-figurative, in which an intensely turquoise expanse, with infinite variations of blue and green, and a cloud of dazzling whiteness are opposed. The atmosphere of colors evokes a navy, semi-abstract but powerfully evocative. From ultramarine blue to phthalo blue, including cerulean shades, we also see jade green hues and this particular shade in the sky of the Venice lagoon. This painting with its sober construction is at the confluence of impressionism and minimalism. The technique used in this painting combines acrylic paint with natural pigments, coming from the ocher quarries of Lubéron, in the south of France.

My visual work is on the edge of abstraction. In my life as in my work, I seek a fragile balance between what is dual: nature and culture, light and shadow, black and white... Energy and life hide in the way from one to the other. In my sculptures, all made of clay, I bring a visceral energy that I transcribe into organic - yet completely abstract - forms. Each sculpture has a different meaning depending on the angle from which it is viewed; it often takes the form of calligraphy. My paintings reflect a mental landscape, with which a human trace (writing, calligraphy, sign or symbol) interacts. I seek to transcribe the power, serenity and mystery of nature. Not by depicting them, but by expressing their abstract essence. From culture, I retain more or less evolved traces, from the crude mark to abstract calligraphy, or the presence of poetry excerpts. It's a questioning that I share through my creations: between nature and culture, between empty and full, between light and shadow, between sky and humanity.
