My work explores the emotional resonance of water and light and other natural elements, focusing on how movement, reflection, and change can evoke emotions, depth, and transformation. Working with acrylic paint and metallic leaf, I create surfaces that shift throughout the day, revealing different tones and textures as light moves across them. My observation is focused on the phenomenological function of light with respect to the definition of being and essence. The light becomes a boundary and a threshold of the natural world and the concept of representation. My practice, rooted in contemporary expressive abstraction, balances intuition and structure. My background in architecture shapes my sense of rhythm and composition, while over thirty years as a tattoo artist and illustrator inform my precision and flow. When painting, though, I am free from the constraints of commission. Each painting is a meditation on impermanence - a moment where emotion, fluidity, and light converge.
