About The Artwork
This series is inspired on a Japanese garden pond. It starts with a photograph of the reflections of nature on water printed on watercolour paper. From there, connecting with my memories of travelling in Japan and my current feelings and mood, I start a process of aggressive marking and introduction of colours, using markers, pencils, watercolours, guaches and what not. I hope the viewer feels the tension between the peacefulness offered by nature and the restlessness of human feelings and expressed through the painting and markings.

1960, Bogota-Colombia. Multi-media artist. Currently residing in Bogotá. Lived in Washington D.C. for more than 10 years and 3 years in the UK. I am interested in the interaction between photography and painting, drawing and printmaking. My work revolves around the themes of memory, portraiture and nature. I aim at hitting emotions on the viewer creating images composed of various layers using the four mentioned media or techniques.
