Fabrizio Ceruti and Lisa Loi were both raised in Italy in families where crafts were present in everyday life; Fabrizio from a tradition of carpentry and Lisa from a legacy of heritage preservation. Fabrizio, born in Milan, and Lisa, from Mantova, first collided during their academic studies in Architecture where their education had an interdisciplinary approach to design and fine arts. After separately moving to Australia, their paths would incidentally lapse and cross, until eventually, Australia bonded them by their shared connection with Nature and their common desire to explore new cultures. Ceruti and Loi, how they use to call each other, found curiosity in a material from their architectural practice -concrete- and its combination with objects from their escapes into the Australian bush -bark-. An inner desire of making has driven Fabrizio and Lisa to create individual pieces which house the spirit of their profession and passions. A contrast of materials bounded in equilibrium, artefacts that blend craft and nature, transformation and stillness, evolution and instantaneity, art objects born from a simplification of materials that seek a universal balance.
