Iryna Somyk-Ponomarenko, born in 1974 in Kyiv, Ukraine. During 1996 – 2001, Iryna studied at the department of Technology and Restoration of Art Works of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, Ukraine. Since 2003, Iryna Somyk-Ponomarenko has been teaching Technique of Easel Painting , Copy of Easel Painting and Restoration of Easel Painting at the Department of Technique and Restoration of Art Works, the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, Ukraine. In 2003 – 2004 the artist participated in the creation of classical-style paintings for the reproduction of the Castlehyde mansion in Ireland. Also, in 2008, 2009 she created copies of Ukrainian historians’ portraits for the Portrait Gallery in the Palace of Cyril Rozumovsky (Baturin National Reserve «Hetman's Capital», Ukraine). During 2017-2018 Iryna Somyk-Ponomarenko has been the manager of the Project on copies-reconstructions of the Reverends of Kyiv-Pechersk for the Trapezna Church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Since 2001 she has been the participating as an artist in many all-Ukrainian and international art exhibitions and projects, including: 1st and 2nd All-Ukrainian Biennale of Levkas, Gallery "White World", Kyiv, Ukraine (Special Gallery Award); Art project "COSMOGONY OF SENSES", The Korsaks’ Museum of Contemporary Ukrainian Art , Lutsk, Ukraine; International Art project "Solomiya" Gran Teatro Puccini, Torre del Lago, Italy; International Portrait Award, PortraitNow2019, the Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle, Denmark; Іnternational charity art project ArtHelp for Ukraine, Denmark; XIII All-Ukrainian Exhibition and IV International Exhibition "Graphics in Kharkiv", National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Kharkiv organization, Kharkiv, Ukraine (III degree diploma in the nomination "Author's graphics") and in many others. Since 2020 Iryna collaborates with the Parcus Gallery, Austria and as part of the gallery she took part in Art Fires and group exhibitions, including: 2023, 2024 – “Figurativus” Group Exhibition, Basel, Switzerland ; 2022 – Discovery Art Fair, Cologne, Germany; 2022 – Affordable Art Fair, Brussels, Belgium; 2021 – Discovery Art Fair, Frankfurt ,Germany; 2021 – Le Carrousel du Louvre, Paris, France and in many others. Since 2021 she has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
