About The Artwork
My love of florals inspired this work. I have always been inspired by the many gifts we have in blooms from God. As an artist, I was in a space during the time I created this where I wanted to expand my size range of work. I asked my husband could I have a wall in our home. He smiled and said sure, but I wanted to practice in a free space, wide open, to be messy and explore with colors and light. So I chose a 8ftx7ft space in the garage where I painted a few hours everyday after work (I'm a high school art teacher) until I finished. This mural was so satisfying to complete and one of my favorites to this day. The blending with the acrylics, mixing the colors, even just free-handing the sketch from the start was so gratifying! I cannot wait to start another mural in my space... or someone else's. I do sell giclee prints of the mural in 3 different sizes: 11x14, 16x20, and 18x24.

Heather Sportsman, a mixed media artist with a concentration in portraiture, earned her BA with honors in Art, from Southern University A & M College. She serves as chair to the artist advisory board for BlkArthouse, she is a member of the Women's Caucus for Art Texas Chapter, an Adobe brand ambassador, and exhibits her work in galleries locally and internationally. Heather is deeply connected with her art and firmly believes her inspiration transfers to those who view it.
