Sadie - Limited Edition 1 of 10 Artwork

I remain inspired by photos sitting in a box that may have been forgotten. They don't necessarily have to be mine, but could be anyone's photo really. Me leveraging it to express an idea or thought is a form of resurrection in my mind. I tend to be drawn to photos of people taken before the 1950's, as there is an awkwardness between the lens and subject matter that I find endearing and beautiful. This photo was cropped amidst a larger one, where this subject, "sadie", was standing within a crowd. I was so drawn to her smile which appears to be between expressions. The pieces that the work is dissected in, sewn together with thread and acrylic polymer–it's this deconstruction/reconstruction/fracturing of the image that I find implies a memory or an in-between moment.
