"I am a mixed media artist born and raised in a small fishing village in the north of Scotland. I began as a professional photographer and ranged over other design roles in the real world and on the internet. Now my time is filled with making art, with elements of rough paper collages and painting plus drawing, using a range of materials for a rough and free feeling. I use my pictures to explore unlikely compositions and relationships, arrived at with instinct and emotion as well as thinking things through. My technique juggles unforeseen juxtapositions of colour and shapes, the whole coming together to achieve a precarious but satisfying balance. My influences may not be apparent… I keep coming back to Cézanne and Matisse."
