After my failed attempt as tooth fairy, I have created this Sunflower fairy to relieve me from the duty of tooth fairy. In the evening of my son's first baby tooth came out, I wrote a note and placed a few dollars under his pillow. The moment I carefully closed his bedroom door, I heard his dreamy voice saying "Daddy, is it you? Thank you!". Feeling surprised and shocked, that he somehow found out about the truth, yet a warm feeling since this showed his grateful personality. In addition, I have been searching for a creative way to preserve my son’s milk teeth. I went through many different ideas, and finally ended up combining Acrylic Painting, 3D printing and Vacuum Form to create this piece. The milk teeth are embedded into 3D printed teeth which are dated to help remember when each tooth came out. Some are made with transparent material to show the actual tooth. A based is made to hold the full set of teeth with enough slots to store the rest of his teeth in the coming years. A molar tooth shaped cover is made with transparent PET material to form the face of the fairy. Finally, a pair of old sunglasses to hold the cover in place. Combining with traditional painting as the petals.
