ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This painting belongs to a series of 5 pieces entitled "Il Sole è cieco", that is to say "The Sun is blind". Here, two half-embraced figures can be seen touching each other against a fairly dark background. No visible face, just two heads that seem both connected and separated by a sheet of stone. This mineral shell that covers the faces is a barrier at the same time as a tie. It prevents seeing, it puts a distance. The title "Toccata" means "touched" in Italian: to know and love each other, not everything passes through sight, you have to touch and be touched... This work is also a distant echo of Magritte's "Amants". This painting is a unique piece made in mixed technique on canvas, it combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting, with squares made in relief on the surface of the canvas. The painting is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 85 x 85 x 3.5 cm).

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
