About The Artwork
"You are a perfect symphony" was inspired by the profound connection between music and the human experience. The subject, a black and white image of a musician and composer, serves as a universal symbol of the symphony that resides within each individual. Through the encaustic medium, I aimed to convey an ethereal and distressed aesthetic, symbolizing the complexities of life. The use of black and white enhances the timeless nature of music, while vibrant pigments and pressed sheet music into the wax surface create a harmonious blend of visual and auditory elements. My hope is that viewers will not only appreciate the composition but also connect with the deeper symbolism, reflecting on the unique symphony within themselves. In this artwork, I merged photography and painting elements using encaustic as a unifying substance. The combination of silver foil and diverse pigments in the wax background adds depth and vibrancy, mirroring the complexity of the human experience. By intertwining visual and auditory elements, I sought to create a rich and layered experience, inviting viewers to contemplate the harmony and discord within their own lives and recognize the uniqueness of each person's individuality.

"My art is a combination of photography, encaustic, and painting. I transfer images directly into beeswax, and embellish with colored wax mediums I make from oil-based or powdered pigments. I enjoy the wide range of possibilities inherent in this technique - the evocative and distressed tones, and especially the additive and subtractive qualities that come along with the process.
