This realistic oil painting is a reconstruction of the starting position of the Tourist trophy race in 1962. The two race drivers are Tom Phillis from Australia on a Honda 350 and the second is Frantisek Stastny on a Jawa 350 from Czechoslovakia. This race proved to be one of the most memorable ones. On one side Tom Phillis tragically died and on the other Stastny finished 3rd, which has been the best motosport result for Czech republic untill today. This painting has been done on a commission. The real photography from the start no longer exists so it has been meticulously recreated with the available material. If you are interested in this painting or another special comission please contact me via Saatchi.

I am Czech artist based in Prague. I focus on oil painting but also delve into sculpture. I specialize in monochrome miniatures but you can see that I do canvases in Art Deco style and modernistic geometrical compositions. You can check out my work at my website or my facebook. I am also a curator of Czech modern art and I try to promote other Bohemian artists at my annual "Wail of Silence" exhibition.
