Born in Lafayette and raised in Jennings, Louisiana, Troy Broussard could draw from the time he learned to hold a pencil.

After LSU he moved to Houston in 1987 to intern with a prominent design firm. He worked his way up the company ladder and was made a partner, eventually rising to president of Edward J. Perrault Design Associates Inc.

Troys first solo art showing in Houston was in 1995; he has shown art consistently since that time. In 2004 he was chosen Favorite Artist in the Houston Voice Best of Houston Awards.

In 2007 Troy returned to Louisiana. He set up his art studio adjacent to his home and works as the director of the Jeff Davis Arts Council.

The artist is a board member of Jeff Davis Business Alliance, Ducks Unlimited, served as a four-term board member of Bayou City Boys Club (BCBC), and has been an active volunteer for organizations such as BCBC, DIFFA, Bering-Omega, the Orange Show, and Artspace Projects, Inc. Formerly a member of the Krewe of Endymion, the largest Mardi Gras krewe in New Orleans, Troy is now a member of Krewe de Gator in Jeff Davis Parish.

Troys talents are God-given and his artistic techniques are self-taught. His depictions are representation and often specific, while his treatment of color and line imbues animated qualities to his paintings. His compositions are simplified, colors are rich, brushwork is energetic, and messages delve deeper than what is overtly perceptible. Enthusiasm and a painterly playfulness are evident in each work.

Troy Broussard is a self-taught artist who loves to create. Whether relating a story of his friends or family, plein air landscape painting, painting a live model, or working on a still life, each endeavor is addressed with enthusiasm, compassion, reverence, and playfulness. These unique aspects impart a distinct flavor to Troy's work.
