ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Painting process: 1. Paint on large rice paper to create first layer. Then I watch, think, and walk around the paper for a couple of days while waiting it to dry thoroughly. Based on observations I cut the large sheet to 40 small pieces, roughly 25 by 26 cm each. 2. Add second colorful layer. I use Chinese ink, watercolor, and acrylic. 3. Select paintings I like and cut the ones I don’t like for the purpose of collage. 4. Detail work, which is drawing and collaging. 5. Mounting. I mount rice paper on acid-free matboard using acid-free acrylic vanish.
