The heroes who played the game in the 1950's, 60's, and 70's inspired this painting. A lone figure, standing on a pitcher's mound, in the middle of a stadium, surrounded by thousands of spectators is, I am imagining, like an island in the middle of the sea. Isolated and alone, he stare down his opponent.
