"Dogs have been used as symbols and devices in art for many centuries and in Selina Cassidy’s collection of paintings “Chien Couture”, they are the protagonists. But these aren’t any ordinary paintings of dogs, her dogs occupy centre stage in a fashionable and luxurious tableau, where the narrative isn’t quite as cut and dried as it at first appears." Artist Interview - Bow-Wow-Arts Blog _ Selina Cassidy is a British Artist and Masters graduate of Central St Martins. Her work is inspired by familiar objects and interiors, which subtly suggest a human presence. A world where inanimate objects have a nascent life and animals anthropomorphise. Selina’s canine centred collection ‘Chien Couture’ draws from the world of high fashion, opulent interiors and time living on the French Riviera. Her paintings are held in private collections internationally including that of world famous band ‘Kings Of Leon’ and recently featured in luxury interior magazine, World Of Interiors. She has been commissioned by The New York Times, The Illustrated Ape, American publication Meat Paper and British clothing brand Jigsaw. Selina works closely with talented photographers, fine art printers and bespoke framers, all based in Devon, to create exquisite fine art reproductions of her original paintings. She strongly believes in supporting heritage industries to deliver creations from the studio to her collectors. In 2018 Selina was selected by art historian and Sky Arts presenter, Kate Bryan, as one of thirty female artists to showcase the 30th edition of The Other Art Fair in London and is proud to say that one of her originals was also selected for the final round of judging for the 2019 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. A selection of framed original artwork and hand-signed worldwide limited edition Giclée prints are available on Saatchi Art.
