A Duck Tale Painting

I have been working on this for a couple of months. As is typical of my abstract work, the scene evolved unplanned. I was working on it in the opposite direction. And it works that way too. Shown in one of the images. Obvious imagery in my abstract work is a bit of a throw back to an earlier style that may seem out is step with my current work but to me it integrates the palette and forms I am drawn to. The use of the line along undulating edges and other forms seems to be the element that brings me back to imagery of some earlier work. Perhaps I will explore that more. When an image appears and I see it while a work is in progress, it can hang me up because I may want to keep it. That doesn't really work in an abstract piece. I can't work around the image on the other parts of the painting and have it be cohesive, so as I paint the rest of the painting's colors and forms that image typically disappears. If the image holds, as in this case, it is a much slower process to find the final balance that feels right to me. Especially with oils whose layers can take a week to dry before I can proceed without muddying the colors. The end result is gorgeous with thick layers of paint telling the tale of its evolution. Lots of yummy pigments in walnut oil, which showcases the colors beautifully. The signature is etched unobtrusively into the wet paint on the front and written on the reverse canvas skirt. Accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity. ♻️My goal in packing your painting is to use compostable materials. I may also reuse clean boxes, cardboard and packaging.
