A Hopeful Dance Painting

Although it is commonly thought that the ostrich buries its head in the sand when facing danger, it is actually eating small stones and pebbles which help to grind their food (they have no teeth). The truth is an ostrich is the largest and strongest bird on earth. They cannot be tamed and therefore represent independence and freedom from oppression. If you haven’t seen their mating dance, it is something to behold! Stars are said to represent hope, which has led to “making a wish upon a shooting star”. They are also seen as a sign of excellence or quality. The butterfly is a symbol of having to face change and the protea for beauty and endurance. In this painting the ostrich has been awarded 5 stars for embracing its own unique beauty (pretty in pink) and its excellent mating dance.
