Most of Anthony’s working life has been spent as a professional musician and it is this, together with his home in beautiful South Devon in England and his love of turn of the 20th century art, that have clearly influenced his style of painting. He started painting around 25 years ago and, at that time, painted large, highly individual works, normally of room interiors or still-life, in acrylic paint which proved to be extremely popular, with numerous exhibitions, both solo and joint, in the UK. This carried on, with variations, until a break in 2012. The break did him good...returning to painting with a new palette, a new style, and renewed vigour. His landscape and wildlife paintings are beautifully crafted, with enough detail to allow realism, yet individual enough to maintain a 'painterly' style. As a foil to his detailed and time consuming landscapes, Anthony often paints still-life subjects in rich, thick, impasto oil paint. Painted quickly and spontaneously, they are, none the less, accomplished works and stunningly decorative His work appeals not only to the casual purchaser, seduced by his vibrant palette and creative composition, but also to the more serious art collector who appreciates the quality and uniqueness of Anthony’s work. Paintings have been shipped to Europe, the United States, and Australia, as well as the UK. TOOLS OF THE TRADE Anthony works with oil paint on prepared panel, linen covered board, or stretched canvas. He has settled on the Daler Rowney range of oil paints, and brushes by Rosemary & Co.
