About The Artwork
I chose objects from two different cultures. A teacup from the West (actually my grandmother's) and Japanese papers amazingly match. They both have elegance of fine crafts. I also intended the pure white teacup and saucer and colorful Japanese wrapping papers make nice contrast in a conposition. The teacup is completely white, and the papers show lots of colours and complex patterns, which have range of colour value. The painting is professionally framed, without hanging wire but I can fix screws and wire or rope on demand.

Japan
Atsuko Saito was born and raised in Yamagata, Japan. Ever since being a young girl, she was fascinated by the phenomena caused by pigmentation of colour and water. In 2010, she completed her BA in Art and Design at Tohoku University, where she majored in Japanese Painting. She adores many things that are in her house. Through her paintings, she also expresses a slight sense of incongruity with her belongings. Feelings such as embarrassment for holding on to too many items, or bitter memories that are attached to them.
