Subhashis Das is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at Universidad de Salamanca, Spain. My paintings are inspired by real photographs—sometimes taken by professionals, sometimes just captured by chance. I use these images as a starting point and then let my emotions guide the color palette, transforming the original scene into something uniquely my own. Until now, I’ve never sold my paintings. They've always been heartfelt gifts for friends and family. My work is quietly spread across the world in personal collections—from Mexico, the USA, and India to Ireland, Nepal, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Scotland. One day, an Italian friend insisted on buying one of my pieces—even though I hadn’t planned to part with it. Two years later, that painting brought me €1500, which helped me buy my iPhone 12 Pro Max. That experience made me realize that my art could have real value beyond sentiment. More recently, after someone dismissed my painting and said it was worth nothing, I made a decision: to stop hiding my work and start sharing it with the world. Art is meant to be seen, felt, and experienced. And now, I’m ready to let others see mine.
