About The Artwork
I didn't want to paint Chuck Berry with guitar, rocking out on stage. I came across a photo of Charles Berry, a youngster well before he became famous. He has this sweet smile on his face. The face shows innocence and potential. I deliberately left his right ear unfinished to suggest the sound to come and added scratches in pastel as a child would cautiously defacing the picture. Music is one of my moving forces and this is a way to come in contact with a person I admire. In this portrait, he comes into your life as his music does, if you listen to rock, almost daily.
