When I was in Japan, I saw a bird resting on a stone statue clothed in kimono, I replaced the bird and statue I saw with a Cape sugarbird and a Shoebill. The piece is titled "A new adventure" - the Cape Sugarbird is resting on a friend before it starts its new journey.

Veda is a Hong Kong-based artist whose work explores the delicate interplay between nature and urban life. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Art History) Hons. from the University of Hong Kong (2012), complemented by formative years spent in the UK and a brief professional stint in Germany. Drawing inspiration from her extensive travels, she renders flora and fauna with precise yet playful realism, juxtaposed with the raw energy of intuitive machine stitching. Working primarily in watercolour and thread on paper, Veda captures the quiet beauty of botanical subjects while embedding restless, sewn lines into their backgrounds—a visual metaphor for the tension between serenity and urban stress. Her paintings invite viewers into contemplative spaces where calm and chaos coexist. Her past commissions include Hungry Panda for Foodpanda Taiwan’s headquarters, alongside site-specific installations for a Berlin-based specialty coffeehouse and gourmet food retailer, reflecting her cross-cultural perspective.
