ABSTRACT PAINTING ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING

This is an abstract art oil painting. The rustic color palette and expressive technique was inspired by the raw colors of the earth and the powerful sometimes destructive movement it undergoes due to ecological changes. The integrated text "PCH" is an abreviation for Pacific Coast Highway and the numbers indicate my home address where the landslide occurred.

I was recently evacuated from my home in Big Sur due to the largest landslide in California history, Mud Creek, occurring only 600 feet from my house. Although I am thankful to have escaped safety, the experience and loss was deeply impacting and emotional. I hope the devastation will ignite a new sense of expression through my paintings and an awakened appreciation for life.

Ironically, the concept of this painting is about the earths movement and the oil paints I used are earth pigments, literally extracted from the soil. I feel this ads an interesting significance to the concept.

AWARD WINNING ARTIST
Dana Richardson (b. 1985 California) is an award winning contemporary artist. She received her Bachelor in Fine Arts degree from School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Dana's contemporary artwork has been exhibited in prestigious museums and galleries including the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, The Monterey Museum of Art, The Museum of Arts and Design and Post Ranch Mercantile. Currently, she lives and works in California.

ETHICAL, SUSTAINABLE, ECO CONSCIOUS ART
Richardson's unique artistic process involves her making all of her oil paints and watercolors from scratch, utilizing the methods of the ancient masters. Dana's paints are hand mixed with a glass-grinding molar, non-toxic, earth pigments from the Société des Ocres de France and organic binders including walnut oil, honey and gum arabic. Richardson's ecologically conscious paints resonate a richer, more natural color palette and allow her to control the consistency of her artistic medium for each painting. Dana chooses to abstain from supporting commercial paints containing cancerous VOC's and chemical fillers due to their hazards to human health and the environment. Buyers can feel good knowing that their family can breathe safety without the off-gas of toxins into their home!
