Adrift Painting

Just give me a blank canvas, some paints and and let me create. Carey is a self-taught artist who works in oil, acrylic and mixed media. He enjoys painting a wide array of subjects including landscapes, waterscapes, nature scenes as well as abstracts. Carey’s talent as an artist became obvious when he was just a child. Having successful artists on both sides of his family, an architect father and a portrait painter aunt, his natural gifts were apparent. After graduating from high school, Carey took a job with Abstein Gallery, Atlanta’s largest contemporary gallery at the time. There he learned all aspects of the fine art and custom framing business. He began exhibiting his own work in 1999 and quickly became a top selling artist. When Paul Abstein passed in 2004, Carey and his wife Bekah bought the gallery and reopened it as Watson Gallery just a few blocks away. Watson Gallery served the Atlanta area for more than 10 years. Closing the gallery in 2015 gave Carey more time to dedicate to his own art. He and Bekah live north of Atlanta and are proud parents of adult twin sons and one very spoiled golden retriever named Molly that is sure to be found at his feet in his home studio. Carey’s work is a part of private and corporate collections throughout the states and abroad and may be seen in various television and major motion film productions.
