African violet Painting

During lockdown my studio became a desk at home where I started playing with watercolour after not having used the medium for sometime. Being around little ones forced me to rethink my mediums and the exercise was amazing. 'African Violet' is an ode to remembering the things in my home that I rediscovered during lockdown. I watered it regularly but forgot to look at the plant in it's pot. I asked myself what I had forgotten. The pot details faded from my memory but the iconic plant and yellow cloth were etched in memory. I painted the plant as if I were trying to remember it. The piece is the start of a series rediscovering the collectibles we tend to forget. The painting is sold framed behind glass with a clip behind for easy hanging.
