Rich literary tradition with appeal to Petrarca's heritage and images of Laura de Noves, which played an essential role in creativity of the poet, is seldom or nearly not mentioned in painting at all, not counting illustrative artwork. In this sense it is possible to consider Portrait of Laura de Noves as an innovative one in «visual poetry» of the author, as well as the canvas Young Hamlet by the same author. In May, 2005 The Portrait of Laura has also served as a reference point for an exhibition in Kiev art gallery. Besides, it highly has been appreciated by the Russian authoritative magazine «New World Of Art», №2 (43), 2005. СПб. С. 99.© 2005 NoMi.

It is interesting to note that any authentic data and images of this mysterious Madonna have not been preserved, though her name has been glorified through centuries. For most of us Laura remains enigmatic and poetically attractive personage even after centuries, same as before. If it is so we can present her role, poetic force, an infinite riddle of her existence for Petrarca himself, devoted to Laura seven thousand and a half of lines («Canzoniere»).

Laura has appeared not as a lesser riddle for the artist Olga Akasi. In the graceful classical manner which is not having analogues in Kiev, the image of notable Italian lady appears… in that country where there has been no Renaissance similar European. This picture was created in compliance with the words written by Petrarca about seven centuries ago. But moreover Laura is depicted on the basis of creative vision of the author.

The image, embodying aesthetic perfection, in the same time doesn’t loose the real outlines.
The artist accentuates an originality and inscrutability in her pose. The author achieves this with the help of light and thin strokes of paint-brush. Special attention is given to expression of the inner world of the lyrical heroine of the canvas as it is peculiar to artist Akasi. The overall atmosphere is tender, serene, and congenial to The Old Masters.

Born in Kiev (Ukraine), 1970. Lives and works in Kiev. "Ukrainian artist, the unique in the Ukraine, who works in the technology of old masters, without being neither the restorer, nor the museum worker. Akasi is an artist of the new generation with an original manner and theme characteristic for all her works. However, she never follows methods of actual art specializing in criticizing the public taste or perception standards. The artist has worked out her own aesthetic worldview through the prism of poetry. Her creative range is rather wide and includes the best in painting from Renaissance to contemporary period. What runs all through Olha Akasi's creative work, in addition to her style and technique, is stress on images according to which one can live" (The Day Newspaper). "For our so-called post-human society, where not only "God is dead", but also, together with him, man is, Olga Akasi as an artist (and, mainly, as a portraitist) gives a rebirth to the human. This idea is reflected brilliantly in Akasi's images which we may call phainomena, or those which appear and are present in light (of soul) and its reflections". Valeria Gavrilenko, Ph.D, National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" All works are original, not copies and not imitations.
