ABOUT THE ARTWORK

By creating works which are eclectic, I hope to make them more truthful. From a Nietzschean perspective, truth is revealed by viewing combined different vantage points to observe unique interpretations of reality - there are in fact no ethical or epistemological absolutes. Writing symbols in one language may reveal different windows on the truth to the writing symbols in another. By looking at many, one can discover a glimpse of what lies beneath our individual linguistic interpretations. Cultural viewpoints can be hilariously, disturbingly or tragically dissimilar, and that in itself is a sufficiently profound subject matter for art. The writing symbols I used as inspiration for this painting are from Japanese prints and a Jewish prayer book.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My art is about place and identity, inspired by travel and experiences of locations around the world and the people who live there. My impression of the sense of place is the starting point; I try to capture the enticing idyllic atmosphere of faraway places, the colours, textures and character of the scene before me. I am enraptured by travel, and have lived in six different countries during my lifetime - I have taught and painted during these wonderful experiences around the world. My love of languages and different linguistic scripts is the starting point for my abstract works; and although they have a freedom of direction (as all abstract work must do), motifs and languages (mostly ancient) are the point of reference and substance for these creative investigations. Now I am based in Liverpool, England, my home city. In some of my work I have represented the different aspects of this intruiging city, the make up and temperament of the things I see every day. I hope you enjoy viewing the work as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
