I am Agota Brickute, born in 1993, in Klaipėda, Lithuania. I have been painting since 2017. I currently live and work in Klaipėda, Lithuania. My artworks reveal surrealistic subject-matter, Pop Art colour palette, free association method and strong emotional content. I seek to provoke the viewer’s emotions and help to sink into awareness and the subconscious mind as in a therapy. I especially value the process of creating which is intuitive and guided by the subconscious mind. Therefore, my creative method is related to a surrealistic technique – automatism. I transform spontaneously appearing visions into symbolic and allegorical narrative during the painting. The colour palette is also the result of intuitive creating process. Bright, playful and decorative facade often covers complex and contradictory content. I am greatly inspired by the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch and his developed concept of soul landscape. I am also really interested in the figurative British painter‘s David Hockney‘s oevreu and the pictorial, decorative way he perceives the visible world. Last but not least – another British artist Francis Bacon and his at the time innovative, deconstructed way to depict humans. My paintings have been acquired by art collectors from Lithuania, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Netherlands and Chile.
