Andalusian Spring Painting

This painting evokes the majesty of the Andalusian countryside, a work of uplifting beauty and colorful mastery capturing this historic "White Town" in southern Spain, in the steep hills above the Costa Del Sol. I visited this charming village after seeing images in it in a black and white photography book, and knew I had to see it for myself. The medium of transparent watercolor is perfectly suited to reflect the clarity of the mountain air, the striking vibrance of the colors, the white village left untouched by the brush, allowing the pure paper to do its magic. Painted on which 300lb Fabriano cold press paper, an artists choice for centuries, the paper has a heavy, dimpled texture which allows for heavier pigments fall, and lighter to float, creating a scintillating tone which sings to the eye.
