ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Pink fog blocking the setting sun completely, juxtaposed over an opaque sea depicts a future sunset. Oil spills, deforestation, coral bleaching, air and light pollution. The trifecta of post-industrial human activity. Overconsumption and compliance, shepherding us into the anthropocene. The discoloration and changed viscosity of a future where even the sunset has been painted over and the seas have thickened and changed in flow. In contrast to the dystopian subject, I also wanted to depict the indestructible trifecta of nature, light and energy; unfavoring beauty which can be found in proliferation and destruction alike.
