About The Artwork

Appanihita - this Pali word can be translated as "free from desires". This is a very interesting translation because there are two issues here - the issue of freedom and the issue of desires. How do these two aspects of life relate to each other? How do they interact? And ultimately what is freedom? Most often, freedom is associated with the ability to make free choices. Unfortunately, such freedom is extremely stressful and its consequence is not a sense of happiness and true freedom. Almost every choice brings resignation, a sense of loss. I chose one but had to give up the other. My thirst was quenched and immediately gave rise to another thirst. But there is also another kind of freedom. Freedom from having to make decisions. It is the freedom experienced by a monk in a monastery or a lonely sailor in the middle of the ocean. Neither of them is concerned with the satisfaction of desires in their decisions, but both experience an extraordinary fullness because at that particular moment they are free from desires. This artwork is painted on canvas stretched on wooden frame. I was using professional oil-colours with premium quality colour pigments that have high resistance to fading. Sides are continuously painted, so there is no need to frame. The picture is accompanied with a certificate of authenticity and ready for wall mounting. The work of art will be professionally carefully packed, shipped and insured. Shipment can be followed to your doorstep with the track & trace code.

Jacek Sikora - an actor by profession, painter by choice, traveler by twist of fate. He began his adventure with art by working on stage. Studies at Ecole Internationale de Mimodrame de Paris, and Ecole de Mime Corporel Dramatique opened him to the expression and code of gestures of the human body. The trace of stage work can be found in his figurative works, in which man is always at the center. His artistic path has evolved from acting and pantomime towards visual arts and easel painting. Enchanted by traditional Far Eastern ink painting on paper, he begins his artistic search with figurative art based on monochrome color, in which we find the most characteristic features of his work - color and detail minimalism. Over time, his works evolve towards color field painting, reducing detail from abstract paintings and introducing color to figurative ones, which emphasizes the importance of the symbols hidden in the paintings. Today, paintings by Jacek Sikora can be found in collections in Great Britain, USA, Russia, Australia, France, Cyprus, Emirates and Japan. He lives and works in Świdnica.
