Apple, Hand, and Boundary Stone Painting

The center of this work is the hand that deals with the boundary. In between, there exists a grey area. The hand touches the grey boundary stone marking the border of green and yellow, which creates its own shadows in various directions and colors. It indicates that the concept of the boundary can be expressed in not unified ways. The main targets of this work are apple and hand, inanimate and animate subject matter. Apples are objects mostly handled by still life painting, while hands are not seen in still life painting, but in figure painting. These conflicting objects are partially overlapped on a single canvas. The hand itself has two independent roles. The hand acts as an object belonging to the opposite side of still life painting area and as a yearner for drawing down the boundary.
